Job Synopsis
To perform an accomplished level of duties in analysis and evaluation in areas of Compensation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains knowledge and counsels U.S. expatriates and foreign nationals regarding international compensation policy including transfer, expatriation and repatriation, housing, and goods and services allowances. Also participates in the coordination of the FedEx tax equalization policy and ensures expatriates and third country nationals tax returns are prepared in a timely manner.
• Acts as project coordinator for major projects and provides technical assistance to other compensation professionals.
• Advises management on compensation issues and interprets and communicates compensation policies and procedures.
• Evaluates, analyzes and resolves complex compensation problems and interfaces with all levels of management independently.
• Designs, develops, facilitates and monitors assigned compensation programs including incentive compensation and pay group programs.
• Applies job evaluation techniques to all levels of jobs, including the more complex jobs, to establish equitable salary rates within the organization and compared with rates of external companies.
• Reviews program proposals and the cost/benefits relationship ensuring compliance with company objectives on assigned programs.
• Develops proposals for alternative pay, job evaluation, or incentive programs, or for refinements/modifications of present ones.
• Maintains information and remains current on general business and/or Int’l business, airline, high technology and transportation industries regarding job evaluation, pay programs, incentive programs, and compensation trends in general and/or trends of assigned international regions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree/equivalent. Professional accreditation (CCP, GRP, SHRM, etc) preferred. Five (5) years professional compensation or quantitative related experience including statistical analysis. Knowledge of federal laws and general human resources policies and procedures related to compensation preferred. Proficiency in various computer applications. Excellent analytical, statistical, human relations and communication skills required.
Note: Five (5) years professional experience may include Int’l tax filings, finance or accounting. Knowledge of Int’l compensation, benefits & related financial, accounting or tax issues preferred. Proficiency with MS Office and Access strongly preferred. Ability to engage in minor Int’l travel required.

Position Overview
Assists in the development and administration of executive compensation and incentive pay procedures, practices, programs and related items, to include grade and salary structures, titling guidelines, salary ranges and merit process. Conducts compensation related surveys and studies, performs research, analyzes data, and monitors compensation trends, benchmarks and common practices. Reviews and analyzes publicly disclosed compensation data, including proxy data and information provided through 10-K and 8-K SEC filings. Makes recommendations to management on a position’s base salary, as well as short and long term incentives. Develops recommendations and administers the Company’s equity program. Analyzes and reviews jobs, changes in jobs and related specifications and proposes compensation according to corporate policy, assuring internal and external equity.
Assists Compensation Department Management in developing and implementing compensation programs including annual merit increases, Annual Bonus Plans and Day-to-Day compensation programs. Assists in developing compensation communications, and communicates programs, philosophy, information and plans. Assists with the development of required public disclosure documents, including the Compensation Discussion and Analysis, contained in the 10-K Annual Report. Assists with the development and distribution of ad hoc compensation reports off of HRIS system and other data. Provides timely and quality compensation information to HR generalists and managers, and answers employee questions as necessary. Provides research, analytical review, and other support to the compensation department as requested.

• Assists in the preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee.
• Assists in the preparation of required disclosure documents, including the Compensation Discussion and Analysis, 10-K, and 8-K.
• Assists in the development of compensation offers for prospective executives of the Company.
• Administers the Company’s equity program, recording stock awards, shares available and other Stock Incentive Plan related administration.
• Evaluates jobs using established evaluation systems, determines grades and prepares records on the validity of the evaluations.
• Conducts and/or participates in compensation surveys.
• Develops, recommends and writes job evaluation and compensation procedures.
• Assists in the administration of merit rating programs, reviewing changes in wages and salaries for conformance to policy.
• Audits evaluation of jobs and application of existing job classifications to individuals.
• Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.
• May be assisted by entry level or intermediate level analysts.
• Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

• Demonstrates some knowledge of organization’s business practices, issues faced, and problem resolution.
• Must be a proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The Mid-South Compensation Association (MSCA) offers high quality, dynamic and responsive programs to our members, and facilitates professional development by offering seminars and courses annually. Join or renew your 2012 MSCA Membership.

Membership in the Association is on an individual basis, as distinguished from company or group membership and is open to individuals engaged in one or more activities in the field of compensation or human resources. MSCA Scholarship Fund
In support of our community and the pursuit of academic study, the Mid-South Compensation Association Scholarship Fund will provide a $2,000 scholarship to be administered by the University of Memphis and the University of Memphis Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 for the Fall and separately, $1,000 for the Spring semester.

- Eligible candidates include University of Memphis students with declared major of Psychology or Management with concentration in the area of Human Resources Management
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is desirable in order to compete with other candidates
- Preference given to a member or immediate family member of the Mid-South Compensation Association.
Application for the scholarship will be coordinated through the University’s Scholarship Office.
